UB League Player Waiver & Release of Liability

Please read carefully: Basketball and related activities involve risk of injury, including serious injury. This waiver includes an assumption of risk and release of liability.

This waiver (“Waiver”) applies to participation in UB League games, practices, events, workouts, open runs, leagues, and related activities (collectively, “Activities”). “UB League,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to UB League.

1) Acknowledgment & Voluntary Participation

I understand that participation in the Activities is voluntary. I confirm that I am physically able to participate and that I will follow all rules, instructions, and safety requirements communicated by UB League staff, gym staff, referees, coaches, and officials.

2) Assumption of Risk

I understand and acknowledge that basketball and athletic activities involve inherent risks, including but not limited to:

  • Sprains, strains, muscle tears, and bruises
  • Fractures and dislocations
  • Concussions and other head injuries
  • Heat illness or dehydration
  • Collisions with other participants, referees, staff, spectators, walls, equipment, or flooring
  • Serious injury, permanent disability, paralysis, or death

I knowingly and freely assume all risks of participation, whether known or unknown, and whether caused by my own actions, the actions of others, or conditions of the facility.

3) Release of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, I release, waive, and discharge UB League, its owners, organizers, volunteers, staff, referees, coaches, affiliates, and agents (collectively, the “Released Parties”) from any and all claims, demands, causes of action, damages, losses, or liabilities arising out of or related to my participation in the Activities, including claims for personal injury, disability, death, or property damage.

Important: This release includes claims arising from ordinary negligence of the Released Parties, to the extent allowed by applicable law.

4) Medical Treatment & Emergency Care

I authorize UB League and/or facility staff to obtain or provide emergency medical care if needed. I understand that UB League is not responsible for medical costs, and I am solely responsible for any medical expenses resulting from participation.

5) Player Conduct & Safety Rules

I agree to conduct myself respectfully and safely. I will not engage in fighting, harassment, or dangerous play. I understand UB League may remove me from Activities or suspend/terminate my account for unsafe or disruptive behavior.

6) Personal Property

I am responsible for my personal belongings. UB League is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged personal property.

7) Indemnification

To the maximum extent permitted by law, I agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Released Parties from any claims, damages, liabilities, costs, or expenses (including reasonable attorney fees) arising from:

  • my participation in Activities,
  • my violation of rules, or
  • my actions that cause injury or damage to others.

This Waiver is governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where UB League operates, without regard to conflict of laws rules. If any part of this Waiver is found unenforceable, the remaining sections will remain in effect.

9) Agreement

By registering as a player and/or participating in Activities, I confirm that:

  • I have read and understand this Waiver.
  • I understand I am giving up certain legal rights.
  • I agree to be bound by this Waiver.
